Today we welcome another team member to the ArchLabs team. Conky, Icon, Theme and all round Linux guru, Erik Dubois.
Erik brings with him a huge knowledge of Linux in general as well as some fantastic icon themes (Sardi) and conky configs (Aureola Conky).
He has some of the most informative tutorials out there and everything is posted at his most excellent website erikdubois.be.
So take a moment to check out Erik’s webpage and give him a warm welcome.
Looking forward to Erik’s input on ArchLabs +4 and onwards.
So today we have had two great guys join Brett and I (Matt) at ArchLabs.
Please welcome Jody and Hari to the ArchLabs Team.
Jody is well known for his excellent Openbox distro, OBRevenge.
OBRevenge OS Google+ Page
Jody has been the man behind the ISO builds.
Hari, is a fellow Metalhead and is also a Conky guru. He will be updating our Conkys to the new syntax.
Welcome to these guys, with their skill and knowledge, ArchLabs+4 is going to blow you away.
Brett and I are happy to announce the latest release for ArchLabs and the creation of a new website.
We aren’t going to bother with naming each release, mainly because I am not imaginative enough to think of a new name each time and to be honest I quite like the “+” naming scheme.
Changelog as follows:
– Bunsen Light set as default theme
– All applications are preinstalled (hence the big ISO)
– Conky should start at login
– AIO and ArchLabs Extras have been removed
– tint2conf and obkey have been added to obmenu
– Calamares install issue has been fixed.
As with the last release, if for some reason you don’t want to use Calamares installer you can still access the Architect installer. Use the following commands in Termite:
There is no passwords so just hit enter.
If for any reason you have any issues, please post in the forum. One post per issue/bug.
We can’t help you if you choose to enable the Testing Repos.
This will be the last release for a while. Unless we come up with some thing major, we are pretty happy with how things are. As Arch is rolling, so is ArchLabs, so multiple releases aren’t necessary.
Of course we are open to suggestions, if there is something you want added or changed let us know so we can take it into consideration. Let us know in the Feedback & Suggestions forum at the ArchLabs Forum
Once installed and you wish to remove the Virtual Kernel Modules, open Termite and execute the following:
sudo pacman -Rns virtualbox-guest-utils virtualbox-guest-modules-arch
sudo rm /etc/modules-load.d/virtualbox.conf
If you use the ABIF installer, the installer icon will need to be removed from tint2, which you can do in tint2conf or by editing the tint2 with tint2zen.
Downloads can be accessed from the Get ArchLabs page.
Thanks as always to our friend Jody James. His knowledge and help has been invaluable.
Cheers and beers
Brett & Matt
